Hmm reviews – what do you call a good review compared to a bad review?
For me – for it to be a good review is point out all the things that I really enjoyed in the book – the writing, character development, the pace and so forth, a bad review is the same but opposite, the writing, zero character development, the pace and so forth. I would never discredit someone or bash the author’s character..
HELLO!! IM PRETTY SURE THAT’S CALLED CYBER BULLYING!
If I didn’t like the book, I would say so, but in a way that is more like critical criticism not degrade the author by telling people it was the worst thing I’ve read and what not.
Reviews help an author learn & grow and I fully understand that, but I also think that sometimes can bloggers get on to their high horse and think they have the right to dictate what people should and shouldn’t read. I personally don’t like books with cheating / love triangles / second chance romance however if I am reading an ARC and come across that, I do try my best to finish the book as I can’t possibly review the book if I haven’t read it till the end – also in my review I would never write “man this book sucks, it had a love triangle, or there was cheating or I hate second chance romance” blah blah – I would simply say – this book has these contributing factors in this story line and its personal preference that I don’t like that.
People really need to think when reviewing Indie authors work – your review might just bash & crash their hopes and dreams! If you have the need to give the book less then 3 stars rating then I would suggest you actually pull on your big girl undies and speak to the author about your issues before stating to the social media world your problems with the book.. I grew up with this notion..
IF YOU AIN’T GOT NOTHING NICE TO SAY – DON’T SAY NOTHING AT ALL!
Okay, so post over – this is my random post of the day 🙂
